WEBOct 31, 2017 · Rifle #2 gets put into a prone stock and has a heavier barrel screw on to shoot in TR-O matches (optical sights, prone with sling). Shooting offhand has made me a better prone shooter as well. If one is building a rifle for H-P silhouette, I would suggest a 40X clone in one of the small 6.5's (6.5x47, 6.5 CM, or 260).

WEBOct 31, 2017 · Metallic Silhouette is, sadly, a dying sport. PRS killed it. Mostly Savage 10/110 platform. My primary is in a Nesika Bay stock with a 24x T24 scope on it in ultra high rings with a Hart barrel. I run 130's for CPT and 154's or 168's for the rams. Velocities are not impressive but it knocks the steel down.

WEBJun 29, 2020 · Of your listed calibers, I would get the 6.5 creedmoor. The ammo is relatively inexpensive for match grade. A lot of the factory loads will be pretty hot, so I would get some 140s for the rams and 120s for the other three. I shot hornady factory ammo the first 2 years and only started reloding 2 years ago.

WEBApr 18, 2022 · In my experience shooting both smallbore and high power rifle silhouettes in the 80s, 90s, and the 2000s, it is the Indian and not the arrow that counts possibly more than any other rifle shooting sport. Silhouette shooting is a lot of fun, but also cruel and unforgiving for those who don't practice sufficiently.

WEBJan 1, 2007 · The load I use for these two is as follows: N-133 22.5g,Rem. 7 1/2 primer, 55g bullet,Sierra or Hornady FMJHP or SP), IMI or Remington brass and seat bullet at the Hornady cannalure. I use the Hornady's seating depth for the Sierras. This load is used in my XP .223 for NRA metallic silhouette shooting on 1/2 size target.

WEBDec 27, 2013 · A point to remember about foam, etc. on cheekpieces. Anything you add to the top and tape around your cheekpiece (even the Blackhawk) also forces your eye and face away from the stock, so you have to adjust your position to compensate for that also.
