The penitentiary is certainly very interesting but if you have ANY interest in military history and weaponry, the Weapons Museum in the back of the compound is A1 fantastic. Not large but showcasing… Full review by ESVoogd

The grounds would be mostly accessible but many of the buildings have steps w/o ramps. even on the grounds, there are some minor steps and i'm not sure if there is a workaround for them. you might want to contact the historical society that 'runs' the site and ask them directly. they have a good web site - travelocity doesn't allow me to post a web link but it should be very easy to find online.

The guided tour probably last about a hour, I preferred the self guided so I was there for several hours, taking pictures and going through the different buildings. They have a great weapons/war history museum on site that can also take several hours. Hope this helps
