Q:
Hello, Is this on the same site as the main Chichen Itza? Thanks
A:
This is the main building at the Chichen Itza site. Lots of other things to do there, and lots of people wanting to sell stuff.

Our tour was from Cozumel, so the bus started from Playa del Carmen after we got off the ferry. It took 2 hours by road to get to Chichen Itza from Playa del Carmen, which now seems faster than the Cancun road trip. Unfortunately, we were not in a position to see how the bus driver got us out of Playa del Carmen, or onto the highways, but we were on what appeared to be on brand new highways shortly after leaving the town. I tried to find a map or link to help you, but everything online appears to be out of date. We timed the drive each way and it was a solid 2 hours, even with a lot of rain each way, but not longer. Also, there wasn't much traffic after leaving the coastline. Hope this helps.

Kukulcan is the Maya word fir the puramid, the feathered serpent, who returns each equinox. There is no food within the grounds of Chichen itza. The closest cenote is cenote Sagrade (sacred cenote) it is not the most impressive" but there is a very sacred ambience and it is worth visiting for that reason and the proximity to the pyramid. Cenote x-cajum is really great and you can swim in it (you cannot swim in sagrada) lmk if you need other info
