Stunningly beautiful. Not the superficially manicured kind of park, but rich with life. It is probably the largest park in the world. Give yourself a lot of time and be prepared to walk walk walk! Full review by bunnyhopscotch

Japan is the place to see bamboo. Not sure the climate is quite right in Perth. If a park as you describe does exist, it is very well hidden and unsigned.

I think there is plenty to see all year round. It is not just plants that is the highlight, the views over the city/ river are just spectacular. Nice little cafe to have coffee or lunch is good too. You can hire a bike and ride through it, take a walk through it or ride on the red bus to catch the scenery .

Yes, there is a free 935 bus from the city which drops you off right at the park and the same number bus returns you to the city.
