First day spent in LA. Fantastic views and well worth the trip. Best of all a free attraction (unless you need to have parking). Full review by Travel11031789412

You need to plan your trip. It's crowded and there's a lot to see. There is a parking problem. It's an extremely crowded place, especially around noon. Full review by Concepcion L

Yes., I believe so. Only the dome where you watch the films are in the Samuel Oschin Observatory. This part was closed when we were there however the rest of the building was open. This is where the exhibits are located as well as the viewing area of the live image of the sun. Unfortunately, the viewing apparatus that you look into for the solar image was broken down. The facility is free of charge. Parking near the building is expensive however you can walk up in which case that would be free too. Only the Samuel Oschin Observatory has a charge for watching whatever show they have on. The telescopes are outside. Get in line at or before 6:30pm., otherwise you may have a long line. There are also 5 or 6 telescopes outside on the lawn which are just about as powerful as the big Zeiss. Hopefully you'll get to see some planets. Fall is best for Jupiter and Saturn viewing apparently. Hopefully this helps. Great for kids, very educational.
Q:
Any updates on when the Observatory may reopen? We will be visiting early July.
A:
Still trying to figure out when it may reopen. Seems like the rest of California is going to reopen this week. Does anyone have an update? I didn’t see anything on their website.
