Hi, Sorry for not seeing your question sooner. Wild Rivers is about 20 minutes from the nearest small town of Questa. The area isn't known as a local party spot so if you take normal precautions (locking vehicle, hiding valuables out of sight, etc), overnights at the river should be fine. You can always call the BLM Taos Field Office,who oversee the area, for their recommendations on where to park or for any security issues I may not be aware of: (575) 758-8851

You don't actually "check-in". You find and empty site, occupy it, then put money in the local pay station. Campers are supposed to leave their sites on the departure day by 2 PM, so if all …

You don't actually "check-in". You find and empty site, occupy it, then put money in the local pay station. Campers are supposed to leave their sites on the departure day by 2 PM, so if all sites are full when you get there, you'll have to wait to see if someone is leaving (or ask around).
