We are hoping to start at Bunker Hill and work backward on The Freedom Trail. If I take the T to the community college stop, map quest says that it's a 13 minute walk to Bunker Hill. However, it looks like a highway is in the way ... is that the best way to get there if that's where we want to start or is there a better way to travel there? Thanks!!!

It is less than a half mile walk, so not bad at all unless you have trouble walking (elderly, disabled, etc). I didn't use the trolley, so I can't help with that! Sorry!

The monument is 294 steps. Assuming you and your party are in reasonably good health the round-trip is under 30 minutes - it will depend on how much time you want to spend enjoying the view from the top! I have never toured the museum, but there are restrooms inside - always good to know where the restrooms are located!
