Make sure you visit Lille when there's an opera on. Quality singing and productions in a great theatre. There's a great sense of occasion but you don't need to dress up apart from being comfortable… Full review by pjl29
I’ll be on a road trip through this area. I’m looking at a Wednesday night show of the Lille Opera Choir and I’m wondering how dressed up I need to be. Is business casual ok for a Wednesday, or is formal wear expected?

I went in casual slacks, short-sleeve button-up shirt, and tennis shoes and it was fine. Excellent show.
