The drama was non-existent in Wednesday’s first round of the 2025 NBA Draft. Cooper Flagg was presumed to be the pick all along for the Dallas Mavericks at No. 1 overall, making the official announcement from NBA commissioner Adam Silver all but a formality.
There was a sense of pessimism around the team, but that all changed on May 12. The Mavericks won the NBA Draft Lottery, despite having just a 1.8% chance, and with it the opportunity to select Flagg.
This will be the first time we see Cooper Flagg playing in a Dallas Mavericks uniform. The first overall pick of the 2025 NBA Draft will be tested from the jump, as Jason Kidd said he wants to see Flagg play at point guard.
