Two US Senators have urged the US Department of Justice (DOJ) to prosecute Boeing in a criminal fraud case regarding the 2018 and 2019 Boeing 737 MAX crashes and reject the tentative agreement that will allow the company to avoid pleading guilty.
The victims' family members had until 5 p.m. Thursday to be heard after receiving a letter from the DOJ that a deal was in the works.
On Friday, May 23, the United States Justice Department announced it reached a deal with Boeing for allegedly misleading U.S. regulators about its 737 Max airplane before two crashes five months apart that killed 346 people.
Many relatives of the passengers who died in the Boing 2018 and 2019 crashes have spent years pushing for a public trial.
