Shares of Albertsons Companies (NYSE:ACI) are trading defensively for the first time in six days after the company said it was letting go of some of its corporate staff to “recalibrate the company to compete in a rapidly changing market.

Retail focus investment firm Gordon Brothers revealed that it is offering Big Lots leases for sale nationwide, following the completion of its purchase of the U.S. closeout retailer. The purchase enables the transfer of Big Lots’ assets, including its stores, distribution centers and intellectual property, to other retailers and companies.
Albertsons lays off corporate employees across the company. Here’s what we know
Albertsons is laying off corporate and division support employees around the country, a spokesperson for the company told the Idaho Statesman on Wednesday. Store employees are not impacted by the cuts, the spokesperson said in a statement.

The grocer didn’t offer specifics, though a WARN notice in Arizona noted that the company is firing 225 corporate office employees in Phoenix.
