Alex Palou has become the first driver from Spain to win the Indianapolis 500 by holding off former Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Marcus Ericsson over the closing laps at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The victory is Palou’s fifth in six races in 2025 and the Barcelona native is the first Spanish driver to win the Indy 500. After winning the 2023 and 2024 IndyCar titles, Palou is even better in 2025. The only race of the season he didn’t win was the Long Beach Grand Prix. And Palou was second to Kyle Kirkwood in that event.
