NOTTINGHAM, England (Reuters) -England were closing in on a crushing victory over Zimbabwe at the close on the second day of the one-off test on Friday, despite opener Brian Bennett scoring the fastest test century for the African side.

Brian Bennett scored Zimbabwe's fastest ever Test century but England were still well on top after two days of the historic one-off fixture at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.

Brian Bennett celebrated almost before he scored it: his second Test hundred and his country's fastest and arguably the most high-profile since Murray Goodwin's against the same opposition at the same venue 25 years ago (with apologies to Andy Flower and his exploits in India).
