A new warming shelter on Pearl Street is opening its doors this week during the cold months. The overnight shelter, operated by the Committee on Temporary Shelter, officially opens on Wednesday and will remain open through the end of April.

The shelter, at 3230 Brick Church Pike, will open at 4 p.m. and close at 10 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Matrix COC will offer Cold Weather Emergency Sheltering this evening, Saturday, January 11th at the DeFuniak Springs Community Center. The DeFuniak Springs Community Center is at 361 N 10th Street and will open from 5 p.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — As temperatures drop in Austin, the city of Austin will open overnight cold weather shelters on Monday. Registration to stay at the shelters will occur Monday between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at One Texas Center, located at 505 Barton Springs Road, the city said.

A cold weather shelter in Fort Pierce again will open Thursday afternoon as colder temperatures are expected to continue, officials said.

Under new rules, the decision to open overnight cold-weather shelters in Austin is made a day in advance based on the National Weather Service forecast. But if the forecast changes, the decision stands – and that can go either way.
