The fires tearing through Los Angeles are a new threat to an entertainment industry trying to emerge from a slowdown and twin labor strikes.

The devastating wildfires that continue to ravage the celebrity-filled enclave of Pacific Palisades and other areas have forced a production shutdown across Los Angeles, as well as the cancellation of a number of key award season events that were set to take place this week.

"Severance," "Hollywood is pausing production and cancelling premieres amid the ongoing wildfires that have sent California into a state of emergency.

The LAFD lifted the evacuation order for Hollywood Hills West at 07:30 local time (15:30 GMT) on Thursday. The first blaze began on Tuesday in the city's Pacific Palisades neighbourhood, near Malibu, with others subsequently breaking out across the north of the city.

Los Angeles firefighters said no homes burned from the Sunset fire, which occurred near Runyon Canyon and sparked a momentary evacuation order for Hollywood and the Hollywood Hills.

The Sunset Fire is the latest blaze to ravage Los Angeles. The fire, which began near Runyon Canyon on top of the Hollywood Hills, has burnt more than 60 acres of land. A mandatory evacuation order is in effect.

As wildfires continue to rage across Los Angeles county, legendary Public Enemy front man Chuck D is asking social media users not to use the group's 1990 protest song "Burn Hollywood Burn" to celebrate those who have lost their homes in the devastation.

"[The song] has nothing to do with families, losing everything they have in a natural disaster. Learn the history," Chuck D wrote on Instagram
