Ben Healy rode himself into the ground in a nail-biting finale to become the first Irishman in 38 years to wear the yellow jersey at the Tour de France, as Britain’s Simon Yates claimed victory in stage 10 on Monday with a perfectly timed attack.

Britain's Simon Yates wins stage 10 of the Tour de France on Bastille Day as Ben Healy becomes the first Irish rider to claim the yellow jersey for 38 years.

Stage 10 marked the first mountain stage in this year’s Tour, a 165-kilometer route stretching from Ennezat to Le Mont-Dore Puy de Sancy. In the stage, the polka dot jersey transferred to Lenny Martinez (Bahrain Victorious) thanks to his early efforts on the first climbs, while the yellow jersey transferred from UAE’s Tadej Pogačar to Healy.
