South Korea's transport minister said on Tuesday he intends to step down to take responsibility for the deadly crash of a Boeing jet operated by Jeju Air on Dec. 29.

The damaged flight data recorder from the Jeju Air passenger jet that crash-landed in South Korea will be sent to the United States for analysis, Seoul’s transport ministry said Wednesday, as bereaved families began visiting the crash site.

Jeju Air will reduce around 1,900 flights following a crash that killed 179 out of 181 on board. The airline plans to cut 15% of operations mainly on international routes.
