The first half ended with UCLA leading 33-30 – Rutgers cut it to three when Bailey threw down an alley-oop dunk on a lob from Harper that brought the crowd to its feet with 26 seconds to go in the half. The Scarlet Knights never led before halftime, but they were within seven points the entire first half.

Jimmy Pappalardo added 14 points for Jackson Memorial, which jumped out to a 30-17 lead at halftime and was able to hold on to snap a seven-game losing streak. Jackson Memorial was able to overcome not making a single three-pointer and giving up seven three’s because it outscored Brick Memorial 15-5 from the free throw line.

That is what Rutgers did, snapping a three-game losing streak, and getting a much-needed win ahead of a two-game road trip that could decide the team’s fate in the postseason. The sky was falling for Rutgers and its best players stepped up when needed most.
