This week was not like any other Mountain West media day, however. For five of the league’s 12 schools, it was their last. A year from now, they’ll be in the Pac-12, as that century-old league hard-launches its new form.

The conferences were unable to resolve their differences with a mediator. The next step is a hearing on the Mountain West’s motion to dismiss.

The Mountain West Conference has announced a pause on adding new schools. Commissioner Gloria Nevarez said Wednesday that the focus is on media rights negotiations and managing current transitions.
