A paraglider was seriously injured on Tuesday afternoon after he crashed into the mountain above Makapuʻu Beach.

The incident, which occurred on July 8, according to USA Today, was caught on camera by an onlooker, Dusty Howlett. The viral video shows the powered parachute striking overhead wires, triggering sparks. Soon after the strike, the glider and pilot plummet into the North Dakota river.

It was reported that a man in his 20s was paragliding in the area and crashed into the mountain above Makapuu Beach.

The Sugar Creek Township Fire Department said Monday evening, July 14, that it was on scene of an "aircraft accident with entrapment."
