A longtime veteran of Boston’s police force, Paul Downey earned more than $268,000 last year, city payroll records show.

Paul Downey, a 58-year-old West Roxbury resident, was arraigned Monday afternoon in Dorchester Municipal Court.

A sergeant at the Boston Police Department appeared in court to face child rape charges on Monday. Paul Downey, 58, of West Roxbury, was arraigned in the Dorchester division of the Boston Municipal Court on aggravated rape of a minor and several other charges.
