The zoological society is now calling for greater restrictions on the extensive fireworks displays that are a trademark of Bonfire Night, also known as Guy Fawkes Night, the Nov. 5 celebration named after a participant in a failed plot in 1605 to kill King James I.

Fireworks likely caused a baby red panda to become so stressed she choked on her vomit and died, experts from the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland said Thursday while pleading for tighter restrictions on the celebratory illuminations.

Three-month-old Roxie's mum had recently died and she had been coping well - but loud noises on bonfire Night appear to have overwhelmed her.
