OTTAWA — Teddy Stiga is the overtime hero for the United States at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship in Ottawa, leading them to a 4-3 OT victory over Finland on Sunday evening at the Canadian Tire Centre. Team USA has repeated as champions for the first time in their history at the tournament.

The U.S. National Junior Team defeated Czechia 4-1 in the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship semifinals on Saturday night. The victory was led by a handful of Boston College men’s hockey players. Forward Gabe Perreault put Team USA on the board at the 3:14 mark of the opening frame with assists from Eagles forward Ryan Leonard and defenseman Aram Minnetian.

The Americans came into the tournament as world juniors favorites and left Ottawa as champions. It took the whole team - including a certain early healthy scratch.

Team USA, the tournament's defending champion, defeated upstart Latvia 5-1 on Saturday in the world junior hockey championship in Ottawa, Ontario, allowing the Americans to improve to 2-0 in Group A play.

For the first time in tournament history, Team USA has won gold at the IIHF World Junior Championship in back-to-back years. Teddy Stiga (NSH) scored the golden goal in overtime off a terrific stretch pass by Zeev Buium (MIN) to clinch a 4-3 victory for the Americans.
