More than 60 anti-Trump protests are planned in major cities across the state this weekend, including Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has deployed over 5,000 Texas National Guard soldiers and 2,000 DPS troopers statewide ahead of planned anti-ICE and "No Kings" protests this weekend.

Los Angeles endured a sixth day of protests that have been largely peaceful but occasionally punctuated by violence.

Demonstrations against immigration raids began in Los Angeles last week and have spread across the country, including to Texas. More are planned this weekend.

In response to the protests in his state, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, has announced that he intends to deploy the National Guard across the state to “ensure peace and order” ahead of further planned demonstrations against the Trump Administration’s immigration policies.

Saturday's No Kings protest is expected to draw thousands of people, said Kristi Pham of organizer 50501 Houston, which is calling for the event to remain peaceful, as they have in the past. Organizers also are collecting nonperishable food donations for several local food banks.
