Australian families are being hit with hundreds – sometimes thousands – of dollars in losses as online scammers prey on children through Roblox, luring them with fake offers of free in-game currency.

The child’s attorney, Stanley Gipe, said the boy was playing Roblox when he was contacted by someone posing as a young girl.

The complaint filed Thursday alleges platforms like Roblox and Discord instill a false sense of child safety when, in reality, they make minors accessible to pedophiles.
