Ahead of the legislative assembly elections in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, the Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a notification regarding the publication of exit polls during the election period.

The Election Commission has banned exit polls during the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections under the Representation of the People Act, 1951. The prohibition covers print, electronic media, and any other form of dissemination during specified times.

A notification issued today stated that the schedule for the ongoing General Elections to the Legislative Assemblies of Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir was announced by the Election Commission through Press Note No. ECU/PN/128/2024 dated August 16, 2024, and Press Note No. ECU/PN/132/2024 dated August 31, 2024.
