Hackers working for Iran’s government are using Telegram in hacking operations that use malware to target dissidents, opposition groups, and journalists who oppose its regime, according to the FBI.

The FBI has issued a warning to users of foreign-made mobile applications about the potential data security risks.

The bureau told Congress last month it was investigating suspicious activity on a sensitive but unclassified agency system.
