Minnesota trailed by 10 at halftime and had scored only 19 points but pushed back with a 20-9 second-half run.

Dawson Garcia scored 24 points and Brennan Rigsby scored 15 points and Minnesota managed to survive Yale for a 59-56 win. Minnesota has won three of its first four games for the third straight year. John Poulakidas scored 21 points and reserve Isaac Celiscar 11 for Yale.

Garcia scored eight points in a 11-3 late surge, including both free throws for a four-point lead with 18.7 seconds left.

The Gophers improved to 4-0 with their first road victory of the season. Playing its first game away from Williams Arena, the Gophers women’s basketball used a strong defensive effort to defeat Oregon State 73-38 in the Brynn January Classic on Saturday in Tempe, Ariz.
