So I thought I'd use the MS Windows 7 USB/DVD installer tool to make a bootable flash drive of the .IMG file. Unfortunately, the tool only works with ISO's not IMG's. Next I tried Win32 Disk Imager.
When you create a Windows image backup, the data is stored within a .VHDX file. To access your data, open the backup volume and then open the WindowsImageBackup folder.
