In a major boost to its military capabilities, India has successfully conducted a flight trial of its first long-range hypersonic missile. The test was conducted by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast.

The missile, which can carry a variety of payloads for distances greater than 1,500 km, was launched from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island, off the Odisha coast.
