Little did she know, the man she chose to go on a date with - Rodney Alcala - was in fact a notorious serial killer. Alcala was part-way through a crime spree when he appeared on the show, having raped and assaulted multiple people and committed several murders.

"Woman of the Hour," directed by and starring Anna Kendrick, is based on the true story of serial killer Rodney Alcala competing on a dating show.

Interspersed with several discomforting episodes from Alcala’s criminal life is the story of Bradshaw — a struggling actress in Los Angeles whose agent tosses her the paltry bone of an appearance on the show.
