The Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates has registered a massive record in ODI cricket. It has become the first-ever venue in cricket history to host 250 ODI matches. The stadium achieved the feat with the Afghanistan vs South Africa match that took place on Wednesday.

South Africa and Afghanistan kicked off a three-match ODI series on Wednesday (September 18) at the Sharjah Cricket Cricket Ground in what is a historic occasion for the iconic venue, which has hosted some of the greatest cricket matches in history over the years.

Afghanistan restricted South Africa to 106 runs and achieved the target for the loss of four wickets with 24 overs to spare to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. This is Afghanistan’s first victory against South Africa in six matches.
