PITTSBURGH (WKBN) — ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that a Pittsburgh Steelers rookie offensive lineman injured his knee in practice on Friday. According to the report, Troy Fautanu is undergoing further evaluation to determine the extent of the injury, but is expected to be sidelined “indefinitely.”

The injuries continue to pile up for the Pittsburgh Steelers as rookie right tackle Troy Fautanu suffered a knee injury in practice on Friday. He will now be sidelined indefinitely as the number of starting offensive linemen dwindles for Pittsburgh.

Fautanu is the third major injury Pittsburgh has suffered on the offensive front, as center Nate Herbig is out for the year with a torn rotator cuff, while offensive guard Isaac Seumalo has yet to play this season due to a pectoral injury. Another former first-round pick in Broderick Jones is expected to replace Fautanu on the right side.

The 20th overall pick in the draft practiced most of the week before injuring the knee on Friday. He was initially listed as questionable on the injury report before being downgraded to out on Saturday.

Fautanu was selected by Pittsburgh 20th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Washington. The 23-year-old tackle suffered a knee injury in the Steelers' preseason opener, and he missed the rest of the preseason before returning to the field.
