"Some additional weakening is likely while Oscar moves across the mountainous terrain of eastern Cuba, but Oscar is forecast to be a tropical storm when it moves north of Cuba late today and then moves near the southeastern and central Bahamas on Tuesday," the hurricane center said Monday morning.

Tropical Storm Trami is moving toward the main island of the Philippines and is expected to strengthen before making landfall, bringing heavy rain and threatening rice crops.

The surprise hurricane that popped up and lashed Cuba over the weekend lost some steam Monday, and is forecast to turn and head toward the Bahamas and away from Florida by Tuesday, according to the National Hurricane Center.
