Rangers catcher Jonah Heim could return to action as soon as Thursday, one day after leaving Texas' game against the New York Yankees in the second inning due to a right hand injury. Manager Bruce Bochy said Heim suffered a compressed nerve in his throwing hand on Wednesday when he singled for the Rangers' first hit in the top of the second on a chilly night at Yankee Stadium.

Catcher Jonah Heim left the game in the bottom of the second inning after his flared single appeared to affect his right hand. Heim was seen shaking the hand when he got to first base, but came out for warmups for the bottom of the second inning.

The New York Yankees wrap up a three-game series versus the Texas Rangers as they go for the sweep this afternoon in the Bronx.

The Yankees have, so far at least, gone out of their way to downplay any concerns. Cruz has already resumed playing catch, and manager Aaron Boone told reporters on Wednesday night that imaging didn't reveal any structural damage. A cortisone shot and some rest, and he'll hopefully be right as rain.
