On Wednesday, FanSided's Zach Pressnell predicted that the Cubs would look to deal outfielder Seiya Suzuki, who has $38 million remaining on the five-year, $85 million deal he originally signed in Chicago, if they acquired Bregman.

While there has been reported interest from Houston in a reunion, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reported that Astros general manager Dana Brown used Bregman's name in the past tense when speaking to reporters.
