The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating after a body was found Monday in the Broad Creek area of Norfolk. The body has not yet been identified, and the cause of death has not yet been determined. The Norfolk Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting the autopsy.

A sailor is now in custody, after the remains believed to be Angelina Resendiz, 21, of Mexia, were found near Naval Station Norfolk, but no charges or ID have been released.

NCIS says charges are pending against a sailor in connection to the death of Angelina Resendiz, a missing sailor whose death was confirmed Tuesday following a positive identification of her remains.
