The Indian blind cricket team reportedly failed to get clearance from the government to participate in the upcoming T20 World Cup for the Blind in Pakistan. As a result, the team has withdrawn from the competition.

The chief of Pakistan’s blind cricket association said on Tuesday that the T20 Blind World Cup would take place in the country even without the Indian team amid reports from Indian media that the team was pulled out of participating in the tournament.

The Indian media reports said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government had not given the no-objection certificate (NOC) to the Indian blind team for the tournament.

Despite the Sports Ministry issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the team’s travel, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reportedly withheld permission, citing security concerns.

Sailendra Yadav, general secretary of the Indian blind cricket association, speaking to India Today, confirmed that the government denied nod for the team to travel to Pakistan, which will host the Blind T20 World Cup from November 23.
