LG has showcased the world's first OLED 5,120 x 2,160 (5K2K) resolution monitor at a 165Hz refresh rate across a stunning 45-inch screen.

After just two years, more than a fifth of PC gaming monitors use upgraded OLED panels, according to a pre-CES briefing.

So brightness and color upgrades are seemingly there, but LG is claiming its new four-stack OLED structure is also more energy efficient. LG says the 65-inch LG G5 OLED is rated 164W in energy consumption, which is quite the improvement over last year's 65-inch G4, which came in at 209W.

Gaming monitors that leverage organic light-emitting diodes (OLED), the display technology best known for its ability to deliver extreme contrast ratios, wide viewing angles, and deep, true blacks, now comprise 22% of the gaming monitor market,
