Twins outfielder Byron Buxton has a traveling companion for next week’s All-Star Game back in his home state of Georgia: Pitcher and teammate Joe Ryan on Wednesday was named an injury replacement for the American League team.

While multiple position players have been named replacements this week, Ryan was the first AL pitcher to be added.

Joe Ryan should be an All-Star for the Minnesota Twins this season. He is currently lined up to start Saturday against Paul Skenes and the Pittsburgh Pirates. That may still be a possibility but Minnesota may want him to rest. The Boston Red Sox want him to change teams.
