Netflix Inc. co-founder and Chairman Reed Hastings is joining the board of the artificial intelligence startup Anthropic, bolstering oversight of the company with a veteran technology industry executive and philanthropist.

Netflix chairman Reed Hastings has joined the board of directors of Anthropic, an artificial intelligence company whose major investors include Amazon. Anthropic, a rival to OpenAI, was founded in 2021 as a public benefit corporation.

Netflix’s founder and former CEO Reed Hastings is joining the board of directors of the artificial intelligence firm Anthropic, the creator of the popular Claude large language models. Hastings was appointed by the Long Term Benefit Trust, which has the right to appoint some of Anthropic’s board.
