All 10 people aboard a small plane that went missing and was later discovered crashed in Alaska have been confirmed dead, officials said in a statement Saturday.

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — A small commuter plane that crashed in western Alaska on its way to the hub community of Nome was located Friday on sea ice, and all 10 people on board were dead, authorities said. The crash was one of the deadliest in the state in the last 25 years.

The pilot was identified as Chad Antill, 34, of Nome, police said. Wasilla residents Liane Ryan, 52, and Andrew Gonzalez, 30, were identified as passengers, in addition to Anchorage locals Kameron Hartvigson, 41, Ian Hofman, 45, and Rhone Baumgartner, 46.

The Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft, operated by regional operator Bering Air, was travelling from Unalakleet to Nome on Thursday when it lost radar contact. Nine passengers and a pilot were on board the plane when it came down in Norton Sound about 34 miles (55km) south-east of Nome,
