One person is dead Tuesday after a Shelby County deputy fired shots at a subject in a stolen car in northeast Memphis, authorities said. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate.
Investigators said the deputy found someone in a stolen car. It was immediately unclear how things escalated, but the situation ended with the deputy firing at least one shot, hitting and killing a suspect.
