Whitefish is a town of only 11.6 square miles, yet about 100 deer were stuck by cars on streets within the city limits last year. Local professionals tasked with dispatching injured deer, removing carcasses and repairing vehicles agree that the main cause of the crashes is not the nature of deer.

The NWS extreme cold warning for Duluth said: "The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 40 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
