A Lincoln man and his 14 year-old son were driving near Burchard Lake on Aug. 18 when they spotted a large rattlesnake in the road. The pair took photos of the snake, which were sent to the Daily Sun.

But Southeast Community College instructor and reptile expert Dan Fogell said it’s a timber rattlesnake, a dangerous breed that hasn’t been spotted at the lake for nearly 30 years.
