Countries don’t use the kind of mass mail-in voting now used in eight states – where states automatically send ballots to all registered voters, who then mail them back.

As President Donald Trump reignites his efforts to end universal mail voting and the use of electronic voting machines, Nevada officials say any changes would have to go through the state.

Sen. Lee, R-Utah, joined Trump’s calls to eliminate mail-in voting, posting several times over the weekend to make it “easy to vote” but “hard to cheat.” ...

“I am going to lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Aug. 18, falsely stating no other country allows mail-in voting.

About three in 10 ballots were cast through the mail in the 2024 general election, according to the U.S. Election Assistance Commission.

When asked about Trump’s latest push to ban the practice, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said on Tuesday that he believes Trump was referring to states that send mail-in ballots to voters.

Trump said he and the Russian leader spoke last week about what they see as the problems with mail-in voting. Since then, Trump has pushed again for the U.S. to end the practice.
