Three people safely evacuated from an airplane that was off the runway and on fire at Ryan Airfield Saturday night, firefighters report.

Ava Leona Delilah Baker drowned at approximately 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the Kaskaskia River, approximately 17 miles northeast of Vandalia.

Firefighters are working the scene of a structure fire in the 200 block of Burning Tree Court in Hamilton Township, police said.

The closures are part of a broader reorganization effort at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which houses the U.S. Forest Service, announced by Secretary Sonny Rollins last week.
