A multi-vehicle crash on the M5 is causing severe delays on the M5 this afternoon (October 20). The collision has happened on the northbound carriageway by J19 Portishead. There is currently congestion to after Clapton-in-Gordano. All traffic was held at one point, reports Inrix, which first reported the crash shortly after 4pm.

There are delays for drivers on the M5 southbound near Bristol. Emergency services have been called to the scene following a crash involving three vehicles on Thursday 17 October. All traffic was being temporarily held following the collision, with lanes now reopening.

M5 Northbound closed due to spillage and earlier overturned lorry from J15 M4 J20 (Almondsbury Interchange) to J14 B4509 (Thornbury / Falfield). Recovery completed and the road requires a clean up before it can be reopened.

Police have shared an update after a three-vehicle crash on the M5 is continuing to cause delays this afternoon (October 20). The incident was first reported shortly after 4pm, when all three lanes of traffic on the M5 northbound, at J19 for Portishead, were held at a standstill following the crash.

One lane has been closed on the M5 in Somerset after a crash on the road. Traffic is queuing on the motorway in the northbound direction between Taunton and Bridgwater. Traffic monitor Inrix reports: "Queueing traffic and one lane closed due to accident on M5 Northbound from J25 A358 (Taunton) to J24 A38 Taunton Road (Bridgwater South)."

The M5 was brought to a standstill after a crash involving three vehicles on the southbound carriageway in South Gloucestershire this morning (Thursday, October 17). The crash saw all traffic temporarily held between the junction with the A38 at Gloucester Road (Aztec West) to junction 17 for the A4018 and Cribbs Causeway.
