Meta wants you to buy the Quest 3 rather than the Quest Pro VR headset, which is now longer available to buy from its maker's store.

Even as Meta abandoned its high-end VR/XR headset, Apple’s Vision Pro got some good news at CES this week. Two months after it announced plans to discontinue its high-end Quest Pro VR/XR headset, Meta has stopped selling its remaining inventory of the device,

GeForce NOW on the Vision Pro, Quest, and Pico devices includes “all the bells and whistles of NVIDIA technologies, including ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS,” the company confirmed. GeForce NOW members on the Performance and Ultimate subscriptions can “tap into RTX and DLSS technologies in supported games” for even better visuals.

Meta is working to fix a faulty software update that bricked many Quest headsets. It has also offered to fix out-of-warranty headsets that were left unresponsive.

The latest Meta Quest headset update has bricked several devices so far, but Meta says it is aware of the problem and is working on a fix.

The Meta Quest 3S is an excellent excuse to get a VR headset, or upgrade an existing one with all of the features on board.

What makes this all even more tragic is that the Quest 3S sold extremely well for the winter holidays. Meta's strategy of affordable VR headsets to get more people into Virtual Reality is paying dividends.

The good news is the highbrow IPs don't stop there. Alien: Rogue Incursion is set to arrive on Meta Quest headsets in February 2025, and while it may be on other VR platforms first, I'm all for playing a VR action-horror game without being tethered to a PC or console.
