In honor of "Saturday Night Live's" 50th season, NBC's Peacock is pulling back the curtain to tell the iconic sketch comedy show's early beginnings, explore its cultural impact and it's rise to becoming entertainment machine its known to be today in a new documentary titled "SNL 50: Beyond Saturday Night.

To mark the 50th season of “Saturday Night Live,” putting together 90 minutes of live TV in six days - already a herculean feat - is not enough. In addition, the venerable variety show is flooding the zone with shows of its pop cultural might.

Peacock's new docuseries has the massive task of defining a show that has defined culture for decades, as it peers into cast auditions, the writers room, the iconic cowbell sketch and the 1985-1986 season that almost canceled the show.

The four-part docuseries, Peacock said, will feature legendary cast members and alumni including Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Seth Meyers and more.
